2024 Public Speech Competition Details

Speeches are due at November Meetings

*Use AI to help write your speech!

*Practice! Make sure you know your speech and are comfortable pronouncing all words correctly.

*Notes can be used, but they must be on small cards.

*Do not read your speech!

*No props or visual aids allowed.

4TH GRADE: 1-3 MINUTE SPEECH

5TH-8TH GRADE: 2-7 MINUTE SPEECH

9TH-12TH GRADE: 3-7 MINUTE SPEECH

Should relate speeches to 4-H

– Flyers are given to all students during the previous month’s 4-H club meeting.

Awards:

Classroom: Ribbon and invitation to the County Public Speech Contest. Information about the County competition will be given to classrooms winners in a packet along with the SCORECARD judges will use at the County and Regional levels.

County: Trophy and invitation to the Regional Public Speech Contest. Information about the Regional competition will be given to County winners.

Region:  One scholarship to State 4-H Congress for the top two 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade division winners. Sweaters will be provided for those who have not previously attended State 4-H Congress.

State: Each of the four first place winners (9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade) receive an engraved silver tray and a $100 cash award.  All other participants in the state contest receive a $25 cash award.
